A few days ago, an employee of the Telegrafia company was himself an eyewitness to a flood and practical use of the company’s product. A supercell (rotating thunderstorm) occurred in East Slovakia when the warm Mediterranean currents of air met the cold northern currents and produced torrential rain with a great amount of hail. The soil in the area could not absorb such a great deal of rainfall; therefore, some water and mud suddenly started to flow into a small town nearby. Its citizens had very little time to respond to the emergency situation.
The powerful Pavian electronic siren is installed in the town as part of the superior national early warning system. This siren, thanks to being equipped with an optional local control unit, can be used in pre-defined situations by the mayor of the town and other authorised persons if they find it necessary.
Due to their early warning by the Pavian siren, the citizens were thus given a chance to hide from the hailstorm, re-park their cars, close their windows, and take the necessary measures to prevent major injuries and property damage.
