Sirens with Traffic Lights in an Open-Pit Mine in Peru
Listen to article:
Project Title: Lightning Detection System
Country: Peru
Project Goal: Monitoring atmospheric conditions and subsequently warning personnel
Number of Sirens: 18
In southern Peru, there is significant mineral wealth. In the Moquegua region, at an open-pit mine where copper is extracted, storms pose a very dangerous threat to mine workers. Therefore, it was necessary to design and install a system for detecting lightning storms.
The goal was to monitor the initial atmospheric conditions to generate a lightning storm, followed by issuing preventive warnings to personnel exposed in various areas of the mine.
Warning System with Sirens and Traffic Lights
This warning is carried out through electronic sirens that generate acoustic warnings at three levels according to the danger, as well as visually – using a traffic light system where these levels are distinguished by the colors of the traffic light. For example, in the case of a red alert, not only does the corresponding tone sound, but the red light on the “traffic light” also illuminates. This exceptional installation of our Bono sirens was carried out by the Peruvian company Enviro Andinos.
