Did you know that Lou Bega, the singer behind the hit song that shares the name of our title, is actually German? This fact surprised me while searching for an idea for the article’s title. But let’s get to the main point. When immense effort and dedicated people come together to turn this effort every year into a success, it’s something worth celebrating. And here at Telegrafia, we certainly don’t miss out on such moments! 

Year after year, as is tradition, we celebrate everything we have achieved in the previous one. The party as we call it “Welcoming the year” 2025 has become a tradition, and at the end of January, we welcomed 2025 in true Cuban style, in a venue filled with the aroma of rum and cigars—El Nacional Bar. This event was not only an opportunity to reflect on all that we accomplished last year but also a way to express gratitude to everyone who contributed to those successes. 

The evening was defined by an exclusive atmosphere filled with Cuban music, authentic drinks, delicious food, and a truly remarkable ambiance. Rum and cigars became the symbols of the night, which we savored down to the last detail. Guests had the chance to taste top-tier rums from around the world, indulge in flavorful tapas, and relax in a laid-back environment. Perhaps the event was less formal than in previous years, but that only made it more accessible, themed, and enjoyable.  

Well, not our region. Besides Cuban delicacies, drinks, cigars, and the overall atmosphere, the evening was accompanied by authentic Cuban music, performed by an exclusive guest of the venue, native Cuban Eusebio, along with DJ Mikias. The entire night was packed with experiences—from incredible music to an awakening of our taste buds, all the way to spontaneous fun on the dance floor, thanks to an unforgettable show full of energy and rhythm. 

But you probably know how these things go by now. It starts with a speech from our management, expressing gratitude and highlighting the successes of the past year. Then comes the food, the drinks, the dancing, and the fun. Memories are created, conversations flow, and collegiality turns into friendship. And of course, the raffle—we can never forget about that. Naturally, with contributions going to a good cause, so we can be happy with ourselves even when we don’t win anything. 

Maybe this article isn’t as humorous as you’re used to. But that’s probably because the entire evening—the whole Welcoming the year 2025 party—was simply an enjoyable experience. One that, at least for me, felt like a utopian glimpse into Cuban life. Peace, friends, drinks, and fun. 

So, whatever comes our way, my wish for our team is that we handle it all in the spirit of these very words. Here’s to a fantastic 2025 and all our future successes—cheers!
