2 Screamer Car 70 W Sirens
Preparation of the community for hazards such as floods, fires, cyclones, storm tides and tsunamis.
It was crucial to equip the State Emergency Service (SES) with mobile sirens/warning devices that could be quickly placed on an SES or council vehicle to respond to emergencies and play pre-recorded warning notices and evacuation advice at an appropriately loud sound volume.
Matthew Dyer, Disaster Manager at Bundaberg Regional Council in Queensland, Australia, has provided an image of a Screamer Car siren on a council vehicle as well as his impression of the performance of the sirens:
“You were not wrong when you mentioned how loud they were! Just what I wanted! Happy to say we have not used the sirens in anger yet, but we have used them in a couple of field drills”.
